Description
Ready-made model ship of the RMS Queen Mary
The Queen Mary model was commissioned following an enquiry from one of London’s most prestigious hotels  – the Mondrian, located on the bank of the River Thames and overlooking the heart of the city. The Hotel itself was inspired by the glamour of 1920’s cruise ships and designed by award winner Tom Dixon.
The hotel features many contemporary designs to recreate the atmosphere of a 1920’s cruise, including this model of the RMS Queen Mary. The Queen Mary was built in Scotland between 1929 and 1935, and later undertook her maiden voyage in May of 1936. She served as a luxury cruise liner for many decades and currently enjoys a lasting reputation for her time spent on the sea. She is now a hotel and events venue in California and receives many visitors across the year.
The Queen Mary Model Ship is one of the largest models we have ever built, at 2.7 metres long. Due to the sheer size of the model, a great level of detail has been included, which required acquiring ship plans and photographs to ensure a high level of accuracy. The model is made with wood, fibreglass, galvanized metal and spray paint. This model is of fantastic quality and demonstrates the level of expertise here at Premier Ship Models. It currently takes centre-stage in the hotel lobby. If you would be interested in commissioning a model of this quality, please feel free to contact us.
