Description
The Gorch Fock II , launched in 1958, was a tall ship of the German Navy. She is the second ship of that name and a sister ship of the Gorch Fock built in 1933. Both ships are named in honour of the German writer Johann Kinau who wrote under the pseudonym “Gorch Fock”. She is sometimes referred to (unofficially) as the Gorch Fock II to distinguish her from her older sister ship. Built as a training vessel with a complement of 77 and could accommodate 160 trainees. The present day Gorch Fock is the cadet training ship of the German Navy.
Both ship and rigging are still in excellent condition.
