About the Calista

The Calista, built in 1911 at the Martinolich Dockton Shipyard, Washington, is best known for the incident on 5 November 1916. The ship, The ship,  which was preceded by the steamship Verona, was carrying members of the Industrial Workers of the World from Seattle Everett, Washington, during a labour dispute. When the Verona Everett arrived, a gunfight broke out. This shooting became known as the Everett Massacre. Because of the shooting, Verona did not land her passengers and returned to Seattle. Verona met Calista heading towards Everett and warned her not to proceed. The Calista then turned around and returned to Seattle. The Calista was wrecked in 1924.

About the Calista Ship Model

Through extensive research and careful planning, each of the Calista Ship models are built by our experienced craftsmen using the traditional technique of plank-on-frame construction. The models are constructed out of locally-sourced wood and are then varnished before being hand painted, for additional protection. All models are ready to be displayed and are supplied with a wooden base and a brass name plate. With a striking red waterline, this model will make an exquisite addition to any space. We also offer a selection of attractive display cases so that your model can be displayed in a dust-free environment.
