Multi Tool Sets
Sets that bring together the tools needed for model building in a single purchase. A straightforward way to equip a workbench before a first build, without working out item by item what you are missing.

Micro Tool Set – Shesto

Precision Toolset – Amati
Buying tools individually works well once you know what you use. Starting from nothing it usually means three separate orders and a build stalled twice while something is in the post.
Types of set
- General modelling sets with knives, blades, files, tweezers, a pin vice and measuring aids
- Rotary multi tool sets supplied with cutting, sanding, grinding and polishing accessories in a case
- Focused sets aimed at one part of the process, such as cutting and shaping or finishing
Check contents, not case size
What matters is whether the set includes what a wooden ship kit actually needs: a sharp blade system, fine files, abrasives, tweezers and a pin vice. Clamps, adhesives and paints are generally not included and are stocked in clamps and building tools, glues and paints. Larger combined packages are in tool bundles.
As a gift
A tool set works well alongside a beginner kit, where an individual tool would be a guess and a kit alone leaves the recipient unable to start.
Common questions
Is a set enough to build a whole kit?
Nearly. You will still need glue, paint and plank clamps.
Set or bundle?
A set covers one group of tools. A bundle spans several groups. If you own nothing, the bundle is usually better value.
