Description
The Royal Louis
The Royal Louis was a 116-gun ship of the line of the French Royal Navy. She was designed in 1757 by Jacques-Luc Coulomb and built from 1757 to 1762 by Laurent Coulomb at the Brest arsenal. It is the fourth ship to bear this name. It is the only ship of the Sans-Pareil type ever built. The little story is that in August 1771, while she was in dry dock, it was found that she had deteriorated to the point that she could no longer be operated. She was scrapped in 1773 without being used.
The Royal Louis Ship Model
As you can see from the model of the Royal Louis, the model was built with a remarkable level of craftsmanship, using the traditional technique of plank and frame construction. To ensure a high level of quality and detail, every step of the construction process is controlled. Hulls and decks are built exclusively from hardwoods. The model of the Royal Louis ship has been sanded and varnished in several layers to create a smooth finish. The details are reproduced using leather upholstery. The team of master craftsmen use the skills and expertise developed over many years to ensure that this model is identical to the original. The model is mounted on a solid wooden base and includes a brass plate.
